THE UNIT
The Neonatal Unit was completely modernised
and upgraded with a £1million plus capital project completed during
1999 and now runs as a Level 1 Unit. This means care is provided
for premature babies who are born at 34 weeks or older, or for
babies born at full term with some illness.
Within the Neonatal Unit there are 16 cots
in total; 2 Stabilisation cots and 14 Special Care
cots.
The Neonatal Unit has a family-focused philosophy in which staff
and parents work together in partnership to provide the highest
standards of care.
The Special Care Nursery provides a relaxed environment for
parents to spend quality time with their baby. Parents are
encouraged to visit at any time to enable them to attend to their
baby's needs.
