The Whittington Maternity department offers a comprehensive
maternity service in both the hospital and community. The maternity
department has 47 beds, a neonatal unit, a delivery suite and
aobstetric theatre and observation area. There is also a Level 2
neonatal unit for babies needing intensive care.
We believe that maternity care is based on the partnership between
a woman, her partner, the midwifery team and the obstetrician. Our
aim is to promote the health and safety of you and your baby.
Midwives will care for you in pregnancy, labour and the postnatal
period, referring to medical colleagues and other health
professionals as appropriate.
Location
The Maternity department, also known
as The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust and The City of London

Ante-Natal Clinic
The antenatal clinic is
located on Level 5 of St Mary's Wing (orange zone). Midwives and
doctors are available in the antenatal clinic to discuss any aspect
of your care. There are a variety of clinics running within the
antenatal clinic. In the clinic, you may be seen by a midwife, a

Women from outside the unit catchment area are allocated to the
'Whittington Team' and are seen by the 'core' midwives in
ante-natal clinic.
