Queen Mary's Hospital runs as a Level 1 Neonatal
Unit. This means that care is provided for babies born at 34 weeks
or older, or for babies born at full term with some
illness.
The Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) is a Level 1 Unit that provides
ongoing High Dependency Care and short term Intensive Care for
babies 27 weeks gestation and above.
The Unit has 6 Consultant Paediatricians, one of whom (Dr Ali
Bokhari) is the Lead Consultant for Newborn Services.
