Acute Neonatal Transport Service East of England

The Acute Neonatal Transfer Service (ANTS) covers the East of England Strategic Health Authority area, providing services to a population of over 5 million people and 18 hospitals providing neonatal intensive care.

The service has two main elements :

1. Emergency Bed Service (neonatal and inutero beds)

2. Acute Neonatal Transfer Team (undertaking emergency and single clinician transfers for the East of England population)

The ANTS Team is a dedicated transfer service operating over 24 hours, which co-ordinates and aims to find cots for newborn babies, according to clinical need and to transfer them safely from the referring unit to the receiving unit.

It also collates and provides in utero bed status information to delivery suites. This is updated twice a day.

Geographical area:

Our area is large - extending from the south coast to North Norfolk. Our headquarters are at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, which is well placed to serve this area.
