Chase Farm Hospital runs as a Special Care Unit (SCU). SCUs provide special care for their own local population. Depending on arrangements within their neonatal network, they may also provide some high dependency services. In addition, SCUs provide a stabilisation facility for babies who need to be transferred to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for intensive or high dependency care, and they also receive transfers from other network units for continuing special care.

Chase Farm Hospital is one of 2 hospitals which combine to form the Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Neonatal Unit has 20 cots at Barnet Hospital, 10 of which are Intensive Care/High Dependency cots and also has 10 Special Care cots at Chase Farm Hospital. The Neonatal Unit serves the local population and also takes emergency referrals from London and South East England. The Unit provides care for pre-term infants over 27 weeks gestation and newborn babies requiring medical support. All extreme pre-term infants will be transferred to University College London Hospital for more specialised care. Babies who have conditions requiring surgery are transferred to specialist units at Great Ormond Street Hospital

The Neonatal Team is led by the Consultant, Dr Bulend Yuksel with the support of the Lead Nurse, Jo Wong.
