The Function of the Network
To ensure that mothers and babies are treated in the right place, at the right time and by appropriately trained staff and to establish and maintain appropriate capacity within the Network;
To establish and sustain joined up thinking and planning across the Network to meet the needs of babies, women and their families in a supportive and co-ordinated way;
To achieve and deliver uniform standards; To deliver this through the development of a single neonatal service across North West London. This means that there will be a common strategy and consistency in the way that services are provided. It does not mean a single unit of management.
To achieve quality improvement of services across the Network, by such mechanisms as defining care pathways, monitoring outcomes, audit, harnessing research, workforce development and education and training;
To create a network that is 'owned' by the staff and organisations working within the service and is regarded as being of value by the health communities that it serves.
