The South West London Perinatal Network (SWLPN) recognises the valuable contribution parents , as users of the service, can contribute to the development of the network. There is parent representation on the Network Board.
The lead for the parent group is Mrs. Pauline Woods, based at Kingston Hospital.
The Network fully supports the user sub-group and constantly encourages their input in the development of network projects. The group meets four times a year and the strength of the User Group continues to be in the interaction between parents and professionals. At all meetings discussions are wide ranging, resulting in a greater understanding between parents and professionals. Projects parents are primarily involved in, range from seeking parents views , (in the form of a network questionnaire ), to developing leaflets for the network.
Most recently , the network has funded an parent electronic survey package - which gives parents of babies admitted to units in the SWLPN , an opportunity to feedback on specific areas of care they received whilst on the Neonatal units.
Several Parent leaflets, booklets and a questionnaire are listed below. All these leaflets were designed in conjunction with the network user sub-group and clinical governance sub-group.All have been approved by the Network Board.
Do you want to influence how neonatal care operates in SWLPN? Would you like to represent other parents and make your voice heard? As a parent user representative you can have a huge impact.
