Online Training in Screening

The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) has launched its new online learning module for antenatal and newborn screening in England.

The module covers the six NHS antenatal and newborn screening programmes, providing professionals with an easy and flexible way to stay up-to-date, ensuring that women and their families always get accurate information in order to make informed choices about screening.

The learning module comprises multimedia and interactive content to make learning engaging, while allowing health professionals to increase their knowledge. The module will also provide evidence of learning and help both employers and educators to meet training requirements. By the end of the module learners will be able to distinguish between screening and diagnosis and explain limitations and benefits of screening; impart balanced screening information to women and families to enable informed choice; have up-to-date knowledge of the NHS screening programmes and pathways; gain knowledge of issues of quality and safety across screening pathways and have evidence of professional development.
